About the job:

To lead a team of revenue protection employees and drive the South Western Railways revenue protection strategy, with a view to reduce revenue loss from fraud and ticketless travel.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Direct leadership of a team of employees and all associated managerial responsibilities.
  • Maximise efficiency through implementation of the strategy to enhance bottom line delivery.
  • Minimise the loss of revenue due to fraud and ticketless travel
  • Deliver the annual Revenue budget (payroll and non-payroll)
  • Carry out stages of the formalised Company processes, i.e. Disciplinary, Poor Performance and Attendance Procedures
  • Be conversant with relevant company standards and policy, ensuring compliance to: the Revenue Protection Handbook; Security Code of Practice; Cash Regulations and Personal Safety Handbook
  • Undertake additional duties as required by your Line Manager

You'll need:

  • Relevant experience of working in a revenue protection, enforcement, or criminal justice role
  • Experience of supervising or leading a team of people
  • A good knowledge of the rail industry, including working with trade unions.
  • Ability to gain and hold competency as an authorised collector pursuant to the Railways (Penalty Fares) Act 2018.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and legal procedures (Railway Bylaws, Regulation of the Railways Act, Police and Criminal Evidence Act)
  • Ability to gain and hold competency as a Station Incident Officer and carry out on-call commitments.

Applicants who require a visa must have 6 months remaining at the time of their appointment. Training is full time and you must be able to commit to this.

Working pattern:

Working an average of 37 hours per week across an average of 5 days. 

Generally office hours (0900-1700), but with flexibility to meet the needs of the business. Includes on-call commitment.

This role will cover the SWR network.
