About the job

Responsible for managing the end to end recruitment process for specific business/functional area or areas. This includes managing the recruitment and assessment process through all stages of the lifecycle from receipt of an approved vacancy through to scheduling Corporate Induction and training. Working in partnership with functional Directors, Heads of, Line Managers, Finance and other stakeholders, the Recruitment Business Partner will ensure SWR attract and select the best candidates in a cost effective and timely manner to enable the business to meet its objectives. Provide advice and guidance on recruitment, selection and assessment matters, ensuring these activities are conducted in compliance with relevant employment law, industry and company standards and ‘best practice'

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Responsible for building strong relationships with all Hiring Managers and business stakeholders to ensure client satisfaction. 
  • Proactively engage with Directors, Heads of and their Management Teams to understand and plan for current and future hiring demand, ensuring robust hiring strategies exist through the agreement of appropriate recruitment and assessment plans with realistic timescales. 
  • Ensure full compliance with the ATR/ATO and SCAF requirements or equivalent, including completion of the authorisation approval process at Exec, Rail Division and DfT level where applicable. 
  • Maintaining functional relationships, working closely with key Stakeholders providing professional selection and assessment advice to influence the most efficient and effective recruitment process for their role/s and address any recruitment issues that arise. 
  • Liaise with People Services and Employee Relations on redeployment, IR or other associated recruitment matters. 
  • When necessary, engage and manage recruitment agencies and other suppliers. 
  • Plan, coordinate and conduct Assessment Centres. 
  • Ensure candidates are given prompt and suitable feedback at all stages of the recruitment process. 
  • Make offers of employment to successful candidates and manage the ‘on-boarding' process. 
  • Checking of new entrant or transfer documentation including but not limited to assessments, interviews, right to work documentation, medicals and offer letters to ensure accuracy and compliance. 
  • Disclosure and barring service checking and sign off.  Probation review sign off and dealing with new entrant related queries.  
  • Lead and run talent attraction events, seeking opportunities for involvement in the community to attract new talent e.g. career fairs, schools and colleges etc, to promote SWR as an employer of choice and to raise awareness of the wealth of opportunities available as part of early careers engagement. 
  • Provide KPI reports, carry out audit checks and complete employment returns as required. 
  • Responsible for day to day management, support and development of recruitment team members.

You'll need to be:

  • Previous evidence of providing resourcing and selection solutions is essential
  • Experience of working in a fast paced organisation with proven ability to engage and influence Key Stakeholders 
  • Proven experience of supervising and coaching employees
  • Excellent attention to detail 
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing legally compliant recruitment strategies to drive business success 
  • Demonstrate excellent time management, communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to prioritise potentially competing business needs on an ongoing basis 
  • Clear and effective communicator 
  • Have an adaptable and flexible approach 
  • Highly resilient approach 
  • Experience in appropriate IT packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. 
  • SHL Level ‘A' Qualified would be beneficial 
  • BPS Level A and/or B qualification desirable (or equivalent) 
  • CIPD (desirable) 
  • Proven recruitment system experience 
  • Ability to lead a team to deliver against business goals
