About the job

You will support the Fleet Control Manager to ensure that the fleets allocated to Fleet Depots meet all safety, performance, quality and train planning requirements. To ensure allocation of rolling stock to appropriate diagrams for scheduled maintenance, unscheduled maintenance, UAT, wheel turning, repairs, cleaning and resourcing train plan. Liaise with Fleet Control Manager for downloading of GENIUS each day and arrange special moves when required.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Manipulate all fleets to meet the needs of train taking into account all safety, maintenance and quality requirements.
  • Allocate units to diagrams using the GENIUS system.
  • Produce and circulate end of day summary reports.
  • Produce and circulate maintenance plan including projections of allocation of units to diagrams to ensure maintenance needs are met and depot workloads are balanced - liaise as necessary to achieve this including UATs and wheel turning.
  • Input defects and unit restrictions into Genius and maintain appropriate records.
  • Liaise with Depot Management and Fleet Control Manager regarding movement of units to and from Level 4 and Level 5 maintenance locations and out stations and keep records as appropriate.
  • Monitor services operated by all SWT fleets, bringing any deviation from plan to the attention of the Fleet Control Manager and assist in restoration to normal working.
  • In conjunction with Fleet Manager, manipulate allocation of units to diagrams to ensure units which are called to works have achieved maximum permissible mileages without having to stand idle awaiting due date.
  • Liaise with depots, fitters, traincrew and other Train Operating Companies as necessary.
  • Assist with training as required.
  • Frequently audit unit mileages and exams to ensure accuracy and integrity of data.
  • Record all cleans and external washes of units.
  • Provide material requirement for maintenance plans.
  • Download altered carriage working notices, special workings, engineering notices.
  • Input to defects in traffic list.
  • Ensure that out-stations receive the required units each day to run diagrams, provide and advise shunting staff changes to formations for re-marshalling services to meet service and maintenance needs.
  • Issue Station Control with Stock Alteration Forms to necessitate balances of stock and key changeovers relating to defects in traffic and maintenance requirements.

You'll need to be:

  • Knowledge of operations and information
  • Good knowledge of operations and a background that demonstrates the ability to use Rules and Regulations currently in force
  • Experience of IT systems, including TRUST, Genius and Office products
  • Good communication skills are essential
  • Ability to compile reports on maintenance records
  • Thorough knowledge of Depot Operating Procedures and safety requirements
