About the job

The South Western Railway (SWR) Fleet Performance Team facilitate and improve the delivery of reliable and punctual rolling stock for our customers. You will analyse technical delays, gathering data and investigating performance and ensuring to drive performance forwards. Supporting our business and with accurate data, analysis, and reporting, the Apprentice Fleet Performance Analyst will develop their skills in data analysis, strategy and process, with exposure to all the elements of performance within SWR.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Collating detailed data for Fleet related delays and providing first rate data to correctly attribute delays.
  • Active participation in performance improvement forums within SWR Engineering.
  • Identification of emerging trends and development of performance improvement schemes and activities in liaison with Fleet Performance colleagues.
  • Development and regular provision of accurate and detailed reports on a range of performance measures.
  • Support the Fleet Performance Manager in providing data analysis and supporting the tracking and development of Performance Improvement Plans and Reliability Growth Plans
  • Data visualization and delivery to Fleet stakeholders

You'll need to have:

  • Self-motivated, able to plan and deliver to tight timescales.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Being able to work effectively as part of a team to deliver a shared goal.

Desirable

  • Predicted or achieved Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths, or Level 2 Functional Skills.
  • A passion for a punctual and reliable train service for our customers.
  • Flexibility – this apprenticeship may involve early or late shifts and travel to other areas on our network.
  • Proactive and adaptable approach to problem-solving, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Good knowledge of IT systems used in business - specific training of industry systems will be given.
  • High level of numeracy, and good analytical skills.

About the location

Basingstoke Campus, more commonly known as the ROC, is a state-of-the-art Operating Centre and training facility located a short walk from Basingstoke station. It is a shared facility with Network Rail and is the hub for all operations across the Wessex region. The office space and technology on site are modern with the added benefit of additional facilities including a gym & canteen.

Working pattern

Working an average of 37 hours per week over 5 days
