About the job

The primary purpose of this role is to engage with colleagues and managers on our network, to support and encourage the use of Body Worn Video devices, which is a key tool to reducing Work Related Violence against our colleagues.

SWR is committed to reducing the risk of assaults, threats and abusive behaviour towards our colleagues. Over the last 3 years, SWR has introduced BWV availability for front line colleagues to make the railway a safer environment for our colleagues and communities.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Engage with colleagues and managers across the network around work related violence topics, including:
    • Championing the body worn video device, showing colleagues the benefits of utilisation, delivering training and myth busting with the aim to improve usage across grades that have devices available to them
    • Engage in conversations with colleagues to discuss conflict avoidance training and the importance of the Keeping Colleagues Safe at Work Guidance
    • - Ensure that colleagues understand the importance of incident reporting and how this can lead to an improved service, both internally and externally
    • Ensure that colleagues are aware of the importance of supporting police prosecutions of work related violence perpetrators
  • Support the Body Worn Video team in downloading data from sites which are not networked to monitor usage of devices
  • Support the Body Worn Video team in during roll out tasks and trials, including distribution and rebalancing of devices to docks and the distribution of device accessories for those who need it across the network
  • Attend and deliver Security & Safeguarding Roadshows with other members of the team and the British Transport Police to deliver inputs on Body Worn Video and work related violence issues
  • Support locations on the network with any Body Worn Video device accessibility issues
  • Provide support to colleagues who have been affected by work related violence incidents by signposting them to the necessary internal support.
  • Collaborate with the British Transport Police by representing staff views to improve engagement, trust and confidence
  • Support the Workforce Safeguarding Manager by highlighting trends and causes of work-related violence incidents
  • Support the team as required with ad hoc administrative tasks

You'll need to be:

  • Good written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to navigate challenging conversations with colleagues
  • Takes initiative and demonstrates a focused desire to drive improvements
  • Able to work well both in a collaborative team environment and independently
  • Must be able to work with a high degree of confidentiality
  • A positive attitude to work and helping others

Working pattern

Working an average of 37 hours per week over 5 days

Mainly office hours, but there will be a requirement to work a week of late shifts every 4 weeks to ensure coverage of network and shifts worked by SWR staff
