About the job

The Ancillary Revenue Manager is a key role in managing suppliers and related activity in relation to our Ancillary Revenue income, focused on car parks and advertising.

The postholder will maintain a close working relationship with suppliers to ensure they are delivering the forecast ancillary revenue to the business, including monitoring KPIs and setting expectations for any improvements or corrective actions with collaboration across several other functions in the business.

The role provides key reports to senior stakeholders in the business on performance and activities in the Ancillary Revenue function in close collaboration with the Senior Commercial Development Analyst.

The responsibilities of this role ensure the business in maximising revenue and minimising costs in regard to Ancillary revenue.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Manages in-life relationships and monitors KPIs with suppliers and partners related to Ancillary revenue streams, including Car Park, Taxi/Taxi Management and Advertising, maintaining a focus on commercial performance and challenging / collaborating with suppliers on innovation and improvements where appropriate.
  • Works closely with the Senior Commercial Development Analyst to produce reports on ancillary income for internal and external stakeholders, reviewing and understanding analysis to explain income performance and recommend actions.
  • Ensures knowledge of car park demand and regulations is maintained to support activity and changes, including recommendations for tariff adjustments in co-ordination with the Senior Commercial Development Manager and Senior Commercial Development Analyst.
  • Works closely with the wider Ancillary Revenue Team in delivering requirements around Car Park and taxi enforcement and Staff parking.
  • Makes regular recommendations to improve existing revenue streams and identify new initiatives to grow ancillary revenue; works with the Senior Commercial Development Manager to produce business cases and implement as appropriate.
  • Works closely with the Retail teams to ensure deliverability and understand the impact of management initiatives on businesses cases to approve changes or new initiatives and evaluate the success of implemented initiatives
  • Works closely with key stakeholders in the business, including the wider Commercial team, Station Management, Station Property and Stakeholder and Communications team to understand the impact of proposed car park and stations development on SWR customers and income.
  • Support the Senior Commercial Development manager in delivering any and all requirements related to ancillary revenue for DFTO contracts or future replacements, including contractual changes and negotiations.
  • Support the wider Ancillary Revenue team with other tasks as and when required.

You'll need:

  • Excellent at building strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders/suppliers.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of commercial performance levers.
  • Critical and logical thinker; confidence to make decisions independently.
  • Collaborative and focused on ensuring team objectives are delivered.
  • Ability to communicate and clearly explain concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Basic MS Outlook skills.
  • Knowledge of Car Park pricing structures.
  • Creative problem solver.

It would be great if you have:

  • Experience of managing supplier contracts.
  • Knowledge of Car Park, Taxi Management and Advertising Suppliers.
  • Knowledge of SWR network and car parks.
  • Basic Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Understanding of parking and taxi regulations.
  • Knowledge of rail industry systems and processes.

About the location

South Western Railways HQ is based on the 4th Floor at South Bank Central, a stone's throw from the River Thames and a 10 minute walk from our busiest station, Waterloo. It is local to many well-known attractions, restaurants and retail facilities and is easily accessible by public transport. 

Working pattern

You will work an average of 37 hours per week, typically, Monday to Friday, office hours.
