SWR and Network Rail colleagues at London Waterloo started this week sporting new hi-vis vests, making them even more visible for customers and promoting the One Team approach at the station.
The new orange and blue vests replace the previous purple ones. The new design’s bold colours stand out more on the busy concourse making it easier for customers to find a member of the station team, especially during major events or disruption.
Waterloo’s One Team approach means that it doesn’t matter whether a colleague works for SWR or Network Rail, everyone is there to support customers. Whilst there are subtle differences to the style for SWR and Network Rail colleagues, to the untrained eye the differences aren’t noticeable so customers don’t need to distinguish between the two organisations, they can get help from anyone in the team.
SWR’s Regional Manager for Waterloo, Chico Coulibaly said: “The new hi-vis vests are a practical change aimed at improving staff visibility, but they also serve a greater purpose: reinforcing the message that we are one cohesive team, here to support our customers. The updated hi-vis design helps customers easily identify staff and increases their confidence in knowing that help is available. It also instils a sense of pride and professionalism among colleagues, contributing to a stronger team identity and presence across the station.”
Network Rail Station Manager for Waterloo, Dan Harrison said: “By introducing better quality, more visible vests, we are making our staff easier to identify in all conditions and situations. This change enhances passenger reassurance, ensuring support and assistance can be found quickly and confidently throughout the station. In addition to the benefits to our passengers, our staff now have a vest which is fit for purpose, allowing them to carry their equipment more comfortably and is more durable for the station environment. The change highlights the ongoing collaborative workstreams between NR & SWR with colleagues’ safety at the forefront.”
