We’re proud to share that South Western Railway has achieved the Gold Award under the Ministry of Defence’s Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).
This year, we join 162 UK employers from industries as diverse as transport, healthcare, finance, construction, and emergency services, all recognised for going above and beyond in supporting Veterans, Reservists, military families, and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers.
At SWR, this achievement reflects our deep commitment to creating an inclusive workplace where members of the Armed Forces community can thrive. From recruitment events to community engagement, we work to ensure Veterans and Service Leavers find not just a job, but a place to belong.
A special thank you goes to Beverley Sharp, whose tireless leadership in building our SERVED Network and driving initiatives that support Veterans, Service Leavers, Reservists, and the wider Armed Forces community has been key to achieving this recognition.
Now in its twelfth year, the ERS Gold Award celebrates employers who embed forces-friendly policies, champion defence, and recognise the unique skills, experience, and values that the Armed Forces community brings to the workplace.
