Safeguarding on Rail Scheme

Feb 3 2026

A host of examples of colleagues looking out for vulnerable customers has helped us achieve Safeguarding on Rail Scheme accreditation for the third year in a row. The impressive safeguarding culture which is embedded in our organisation meant we achieved 100% against the assessment criteria of the BTP’s scheme. A tremendous achievement.

The accreditation recognises the compassionate work of our colleagues, who have shown concern and empathy for customers in difficult situations.

Grant Robey, Head of Security & Safeguarding, shared: “Thank you to everyone who helped with the accreditation process. Achieving a 100% mark is a reflection the hard work and commitment to the safeguarding of our colleagues, customers, and communities. This also recognises that we are industry leaders in this area and we should be extremely proud of this.”

The BTP’s assessment looked at our proactive approach to safeguarding across the business, including measures to protect vulnerable people, train colleagues, and run safety and wellbeing campaigns.

There’s a similar focus on safeguarding for our colleagues in Network Rail, especially for the station teams, who receive regular guidance on how to spot and assist vulnerable people on our network.
