As the 21st Arterio came into service on Monday 15th September, there was another notable achievement for the programme as Annabelle Marks became our first trainee driver to pass their driving course with Arterio competency. Previously, all our Drivers who completed the Arterio training course were already fully qualified, with Arterios an additional competency.
Annabelle said: “I’d always thought about becoming a driver but hadn’t properly considered it until I applied, but I’m glad I did. It has been an intense period of training since I started last year, and I still have my routes to learn before I can go out driving on my own, but the Arterios are a good train to drive. They feel really safe, have good technology, and are well designed for us.”
Arterio Programme Director, Marcus Weerasinghe added: “We are making significant progress in our training programme with more and more Drivers being trained on our Arterios, matching the ongoing roll out. Congratulations to Annabelle on becoming the first newly qualified Driver trained through the Arterio programme and helping set the path for the next generation of SWR Drivers.”
